History
Throughout our brief history, Enterphase Child & Family Services (E.C.F.S.) has attempted to successfully address the ever-changing needs of the community, specifically in respect to that of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families. It has become evident that the "needs" have often outgrown many of the traditional services available. We have encountered a significant need for service regarding latency aged children with multiple disorders requiring levels of support beyond those available through traditional resources e.g., group care, foster and special foster treatment resources and mainstream academic programming.
E.C.F.S. programming and professional support services is working towards addressing those needs in developing a spectrum of residential treatment services; full staff resourcing for latency, upper latency, and adolescent children who can benefit from a therapeutic residential setting. Our community based "day treatment" programming supports the process while enhancing collaborative projects with community based agencies such as The Durham Children's Aid Society, The Durham Court Clinic, The Durham Board of Education, The Durham Catholic District School Board, The Children's Aid Society of Toronto, The Toronto Catholic District School Board, Storey Homes Ltd. and others. Individualized treatment plans involve varied treatment modes, i.e., individual psychotherapy using play, art and direct discussion, anger management, impulse control and expressive arts, and are encompassed with the E.C.F.S. Clinical Support Services.
E.C.F.S., from its inception (1995), has endeavored to meet the increased demands of our persons served in developing long-term treatment programming with enhanced services, quality staff, clinical supports, day treatment services and individualized community based programming.
The E.C.F.S. Program was founded by Harold Cleary, Executive Director who had combined with the Executive Directors of Storey Homes, Bob Storey and Hugh McClure, in developing a unique and successful short-term Admission Assessment Program for Catholic Children's Aid Society Toronto. This program provides services for hard to serve youngsters. E.C.F.S. agency founders are professional social workers experienced and highly skilled within the Social Services field in providing services and developing programming since 1974. Storey Homes Limited and E.C.F.S. are leaders in providing services for the care and treatment of children and their families. Combined, our residential care settings encompass foster care, mixed modality care, group care, staffed group care, full residential treatment and community based wraparound care. Ariss Place, a residential service for developmentally challenged youngsters has recently been developed in the Guelph area.
The very foundation of our services is founded on our collaborative partnerships with community agencies, Children's Aid Societies and respective Boards of Education.
